Governance is still catching up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"74\" data-end=\"410\">Deloitte\u2019s 2025 AI Survey says <strong data-start=\"105\" data-end=\"171\">91% of organizations plan to increase AI spend again this year<\/strong> [1].<br data-start=\"176\" data-end=\"179\" \/>McKinsey reports <strong data-start=\"196\" data-end=\"257\">88% of firms now use AI in at least one business function<\/strong> [2].<br data-start=\"262\" data-end=\"265\" \/>PwC finds <strong data-start=\"275\" data-end=\"370\">56% of executives say Responsible AI is led by first line teams (IT, engineering, data, AI)<\/strong>, not by a central control function [3].<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"412\" data-end=\"496\">That mix is powerful, but also dangerous: adoption is scaling faster than oversight.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"498\" data-end=\"737\">A recent bibliometric study (510 papers) shows something that surprised me.<br data-start=\"573\" data-end=\"576\" \/>AI governance research is growing, but it is still <strong data-start=\"627\" data-end=\"679\">small compared to the full AI research landscape<\/strong>. And the \u201chot zone\u201d is not where many boards think it is.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"739\" data-end=\"784\">The strongest clusters in the literature are:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"785\" data-end=\"860\">\n<li data-start=\"785\" data-end=\"810\">\n<p data-start=\"787\" data-end=\"810\"><strong data-start=\"787\" data-end=\"810\">Education + ChatGPT<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"840\">\n<p data-start=\"813\" data-end=\"840\"><strong data-start=\"813\" data-end=\"840\">Ethics + privacy (GDPR)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"841\" data-end=\"860\">\n<p data-start=\"843\" data-end=\"860\"><strong data-start=\"843\" data-end=\"860\">Generative AI<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"862\" data-end=\"1145\">But the \u201cgovernance\u201d cluster is relatively small, and high risk areas (critical infrastructure, worker management, policing, and malicious use) are still underexplored [4].
